SYMBOLS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MOCA
Shield of Mocha
Was designed by the painter mocano, Augusto Hernández by request of the Society Pro Conmemoración of the Bicentenary of Mocha, Inc., adopted officially on February 29, 1972 by the Municipal Assembly. It has form oblongada, divided in silver field and blue sky joined by a lozenge purple, the color of flower of Mocha. The lozenge is loaded with religious symbolisms and in his low part two leaves and leafy branches of the tree of Mocha and the golden one that means the village.
Inside the lozenge one finds a golden monogram of the Virgin Mary overcome by a Christian wreath of the same metal. The shield is crowned by a wreath silvered in the shape of castle of three crenellated towers.
On the wreath the word is esculpida in gold Mocha and in the hollows of the frontal doors of the castle there are two padlocks gilded with eyes in the shape of Latin cross that the lofty boss of Mocha represents, San Juan Nepomuceno who was tortured for guarding bravely and jealous the secret of the confession. The silver and white color means purity and modesty, the blue is the sky mocano that symbolizes peace and freedom. In lozenge maiden means. The wreath is of the Puerto Rican Monserrate. Flag of Mocha
Augusto Hernández Was designed and prepared by the painter mocano and approved by the Society Pro Conmemoración of the Bicentenary of Mocha. It was adopted officially on February 19, 1972 as the Municipal Assembly.
The flag has rectangular form that consists of a triangular equilateral field color purple on this another golden triangle, indicating both towards the horizon of the blue and green field of the flag. Tree of Mocha The tree of Mocha belongs to the great botanical family of the leguminous ones like it is the Samoa, Carob-tree, Tamarind and Flamboyán between others.
